KIMBERLY SLICKLEINFounder and CEO Enclave Rising® LLC
Founder and President Enclave Rising Foundation® and the Ethosphere Institute
Founder and CEO Ethos® Resorts and Spas
With more than a decade of directing development, project management, and brand strategy for international brands, and her lifelong commitment to environmental and social issues, social entrepreneur Kimberly Slicklein founded Enclave Rising LLC in 2005. Enclave Rising is an international portfolio of companies rooted in environmental and social consciousness, each dedicated to developing and pioneering best practices in net zero carbon development, alternative energy, conservation, and genuine sustainability.
Committed to environmental and cultural sustainability and responsible construction and resort management, Enclave Rising is redefining eco-conscious (or “green”) hospitality and real estate development. Enclave Rising’s ultimate mission is to bridge the gap between ultra-luxury and ultra-green. Through unique building principles that emphasize genuine collaboration with local communities and governments as well as resource efficiency and clean energy, Enclave Rising is introducing an innovative development model to work synergistically with select regions around the world that are particularly poised to benefit from the economic returns of tourism.
Enclave Rising’s flagship venture, Ethos Resorts & Spas, combines the highest tenets of sustainability with five star luxury to establish a new standard of thoughtful consumption that will, in turn, have profound social and economic impacts across the world.
For the past four years, Slicklein has identified and assembled a portfolio of diversified international development projects to be marketed under the company’s five star Ethos brand. Breaking ground in 2010, Ethos dos Reis, Brazil, will be the World’s First Net Zero Carbon Five Star Resort™ brand.
Slicklein is also pioneering corporate social responsibility through the Enclave Rising Foundation, a private operating foundation with 501(c)3 status. Slicklein donates 10% of net profits from Enclave Rising developments to the Enclave Rising Foundation to carry out programs within the local communities in which it builds. The Foundation runs tailor-made programs focused on area-specific education, conservation, alternative energy, public-private partnerships, and genuine sustainability initiatives.
Led and directed by Slicklein, along with some of the world’s leading experts in sustainable tourism and economic development, the mission of the foundation is to be a catalyst for positive social and environmental change in the communities where Enclave Rising builds.
In 2007, Slicklein created an educational component of the Foundation, The Ethosphere Institute™, which is an LLC organized and operated exclusively to carry out charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes, for the Enclave Rising Foundation. The Ethosphere Institute was created to perform research in the field of sustainable development and design, and to implement educational and environmental programs for economically underprivileged communities.
